“I guess I was always interested in the crafts. Since childhood, I have been fiddling around with pencils and crayons, finding joy in origami. As a teenager, design to me held the prospect of constantly being creative and a chance to impart a personal, human touch to inanimate, everyday objects. It was some time before I It never struck me that I could pursue a career as an architect, although the urge to draw or click a picture always came to me whenever I was in a nice space. I was a little unsure when I decided to join architecture school, but ever since my first class, college has been rewarding and always very interesting. Staying in New Delhi, I have had my exposure of history, culture, tradition and modernity all in one go, but the first time I felt awe of architecture was when I visited the rock cut temples of Ajanta and Ellora. The unique feeling of that space is something that has stayed with me.
What I like about architecture the most is the variety. Absolutely anything and everything can be related to design and architecture, and so you can always keep learning, keep exploring. As we all know architecture school can be hard. Disappointments and setbacks were always compensated by a heavy dosage of fun and interesting activities in college. May it be learning theory of design, settlement studies, going off for field studies or just partying after a review, I owe it to the people in my college to help me learn through enjoyment. Now almost completing my final year, I can only say that I have a lot to learn. My experiences through these years have brought forth the social importance of architecture. The critical role that architecture plays in the lives of the people is something that I am starting to take seriously. It is for this reason that I wish to involve myself in the many varied aspects of urban studies in the future. “
